https://autos.yahoo.com/blogs/motoramic/georgia-dealers-want-tesla-store-shuttered-for-selling-too-many-teslas-192235038.html

Quote
Unfortunately for Georgians, the state wanted more revenue. This resulted in the introduction of a "Title Added Value Tax" which meant that everyone would pay a flat 6.5% tax based on a vehicle's value. Everyone paying the same sounds like a fair deal, but in the end that's not what happened.

Georgia dealers that self-finance vehicles (buy-here, pay-here dealers) were given a 2.5% tax reduction that lowered their tax rate to only 4%. Also, trade-ins were allowed to be used as deductions, which gave dealers another edge over private sellers. The bill passed unanimously through the Senate with 95% of House members voting for it as well.

This level of complicity between dealer associations and legislators is what Tesla now has to deal with in 26 states. Every prohibition of direct sales to the general public leaves Tesla with a double-edged sword that harms the company and their consumers.

GADA's opposition to Tesla has NOTHING to do with "the rules", and EVERYTHING to do with protecting their fiefdom, carved out with gleeful assistance from "good ol' boy" Georgia legislators.

Stuff like this is what gives anti-capitalists ammunition, because stuff like this is what breaks capitalism, not makes it.

Government corporatism is a problem causing bad effects, therefore capitalism doesn't work? I don't follow.

It sounds to me like we'd want capitalism not being impeded by government coercion here.
This implies capitalism works, and it works far better than the government intervening and blocking sales.

The anti-capitalists are the ones who would love legislation like this and want to control what is and is not allowed to be produced.

My point is that shit like this gives anti-capitalists ammunition, whereas, if we didn't have the government corporatism interfering with the market, capitalism might actually work the way it is supposed to, with the market picking winners and losers, not the government.

Ok. yeah I agree with that. They get a false impression that "capitalism" is to blame for bad things the government does when it interferes with the market.
We were getting a false impression that you were saying this is why capitalism doesn't work.

They are already working off of fantasy, its not like them having ammunition really matters.

True, but this doesn't help any.

Yeah, I suppose I could have worded the title a bit differently. :) Either way, screw the auto dealers' associations.
