Hopefully it's a quest. Hopefully most exotics are tied to a quest that you trigger without RNG involved. I know Xur needs a purpose, but the exotic quests from TTK forward were some of the best moments in D1.

Agreed. Did you see the cell phone recording of the sdcc zavala cutscene? They said they'd have 50 cutscenes, which is like twice as much as every expansion + vanilla combined.

Yearly Timing
D1 launched on 9/9/14; The Dark Below arrived exactly 3 months later on 12/9/14.
D2 launches on 9/6/17; 12/5/17 is almost exactly 3 months later (1 day sooner).

The September release for a main title and 3 months later for DLC is standard Bungie practice. You need to go back to Halo 2 in 2004 to break that policy.
