What a trainwreck.

This thread should've been aborted.

Poll suggests Romney on top in Iowa if he runs again

You know what, if this man ran for POTUS again I think I would vote for him.  He has an impeccable personal character, he seems to really have vision, he has a keen eye for business, he was right on foreign policy even though pundits laughed at him for comments about Russia, he isn't too radically socially conservative and isn't likely to subvert the Constitution for ideology, and if he runs again (he keeps saying no) than he is probably the most tenacious man in the United States.

I voted for Obama while pinching my nose, I could have easily done the same for Romney.  I've been a fan of his for many years, as strange as that may sound to my friends who know me here, but he does seem like he has the potential to be a Great Man in History.  I believe he would govern from a platform of compassionate conservatism with brains.

Have you watched Mitt? It's pretty informative of his character, but not necessarily his political views. Definitely shows his morals as a person while also revealing a bit of disconnect with society. It was a pretty good documentary.

It speaks to how weak the 2016 field is shaping up to be, and it also kind of speaks to how weak Romney is. If Scott Walker is on the wrong side of a 49%-47% election in November then the GOP will have no top-tier candidates to choose from in 2016. They very well may have to parachute Mitt Romney in in mid-January if they're up against Clinton and have to settle for nominating a disappointment that could throw the party's standing in Congress into chaos.

Can't wait til Scott Walker loses reelection.

His race will be among the closest governor contests this year that's for sure. Right now it's dead-even. Either way I think the last year really damaged his hopes for a national campaign. He was my dark horse pick going back a year when it was obvious that Rubio would fade into irrelevance but Wisconsin is crumbling all around Walker and I'm not sure what convincing argument he could make unless he somehow breaks this race wide open.

The state's going to have a massive budget deficit moving forward thanks entirely to his policies, and it might even be at risk for the same thing that plagued Christie: constant downgrades. Walker will always be plagued by that ridiculous campaign promise of 250k jobs that he didn't even come close to, and wouldn't even if he was reelected. Even if he wins it will likely be by the narrowest of margins because he's so incredibly polarizing. The "I can win in a blue state" argument takes a big hit if you can only win by 4 points, and really has zero credibility when no one thinks you could even win your own state in a national election.

The Democrats would love to take him off the field this year but the damage may already be done even if he wins.

I wasn't a fan of his presidency, no. I like him as a person though.

I don't see them as being that similar. Even if Hillary weren't my optimal candidate I'd still vote for her on virtue of her being a woman. I think it'd be a big step forward in social progress, and also in the respect we'd get from the more progressive countries.

Jesus Christ, you really went off the deep end.
