If you confront him about it get it on video.
but on a serious note
more often then not diving into all the different worlds that anime provides if a means of an escape.
its not easy for everyone make a lot of friends or to work up the courage to ask a girl out. (worst they can do is say no i know.. but to alot of people that simple word can be devastating)
as long as he finds that happy medium of social life and hobbies i wouldn't worry to much
just make sure he gets a job when hes a little older and that will force him into the world and broaden his horizons a bit
Yeah, I checked out that site posted earlier and noticed waaay more than I thought there were. I would just order the wrong one, I know it.
I would just give him a hundred dollars and let him figure it out for himself, but then his mother would have another reason to call me a bad father.

You've already failed him as a father by not accepting his hobbies and interests
Ha! You sound just like my x-wife. Look, I'm not going to argue with you about parenting, considering someone your age who still watches these cartoons probably doesn't have a family. Hell, you've probably never even had sex with someone you didn't manually inflate minutes before going to town.
I'm doing the best I can. I'll love my boy no matter what, but that doesn't mean I can't be disappointed with him if he grows up to be some kind of virgin. That's why I'm trying to steer him away from these animay shows and toward something manly like sports or boyscouts.
