Basically any food a supermarket will no longer keep out to sell, must be given to charities if it is still fit for consumption but just not nice enough to sell.

I want to be against it in terms of "freedom" for companies to do what they wish with their own products....but this just makes too much sense....grocery stores throw away so much here in Canada and the us, id like to see a similar piece of legislation

It's a commendable effort, but the logistics of it are concerning. Near spoiled food must be gathered, maintained, transported, distributed and consumed in a day or two. It'll need to be an extravagantly efficient system. I admire the spirit, and I'm cautiously optimistic this will help feed some of the more unfortunate and help try to take advantage of the excesses of Capitalism.

much in the same way that food stamps means everyone pretends to be poor?

the conservative mind and it's paranoia never ceases to amaze me....OMG free fruits and vegetables that might last a day, let's pretend to be poor so we can go to the church and get them for free!

Ad Hom attacks is all you got? And what does Christianity HAVE anything to do with my beliefs about this issue again? Please, explain. I'm waiting.

That's funny, our supermarket STILL SELLS banana's with brown spots and guess who buys em? Everyone.

"They cited a World Food Organisation estimate that a third of food products on the planet that are still fit for human consumption are currently “lost or wasted”."

1/3 of all produce wasted

could go to the hungry

no reason to not eat it over > trash
