It's probably linked to the duolingual country and the two rivaling sides, along with the clusterfuck that is Brussels. To make sure that neither side can go "But we all abstained from voting this is illegitimate election.".

1. Arguments for the evolutionary origin of species
2. The merits of marxism
3. Authoritarian solutions to free market problems
4. Why individuals should do their part to fight climate change
5. Leftists should be more active than conservatives

Don't worry we won't throw one of our own to the dogs.

How about something really unique, like the merits of organized sports for children? Or why Disneyland is terrible for us? I think that the speeches that are absolutely off the wall are always the most interesting to listen to, because the major topics are a dime a dozen.

For my public speaking class I did one on the importance of vaccinations since I knew there were 3 or 4 anti-vaxxers there.

Wife just got done doing why oral flea preventatives are better than topical, but she's a vet assistant so that's just her thing.
