Sounds like a software problem..

Here's one of the tracks I made. It's called Emerald Atoll, the road is sand, and acts like it. All these tracks (mine and others) have short cuts between checkpoints. All you hyave to do is go thru the checkpoints in order. How you do that, is up to you.
Since these vehicles (mine in particular) go very fast...like 180-200 mph, I decided that since my track was surrounded by water, I'd mark the shortcuts.

Below are 3 pics concerning the shortcut between checkpoint 6 and 7.
In the 1st pic, in the yellow circle, you can see the shortcut markers (they look like two telephone poles) and very vaguely in the distance...the two stones that mark checkpoint 7.

Pic 2 is after I just drove thru the shortcut marker telephone poles, and pic 3 is after crossing the water, seeing that I will directly pass thru checkpoint 7.

That game holds up well.

Here's some other tracks. Some came with the game, some I made with their editor, last one was a download from their site (made by random player).

I think it was my mouse going haywire so you're probably right

Having an editor is one of the best things games can do.
