Abbas is losing power regardless. Israel can either move to the left and treat with him (bolstering his position), or disregard him and crush the extremists. Either is a solution, I don't think their current approach is sustainable. A nation of 8,000,000 can't "manage" 6,000,000 million hostiles indefinitely.

I'm being direct. The Arab Palestinians were living on land that they were evicted from. Many Germans and Poles were evicted from their homes following WWII. Just because other Germans and Poles weren't doesn't make what happened any less real. I'd say that in this case what happened is more aggravating for those involved, because the Arabs were never terribly united.
