It really isn't. Spiritual education is incredibly important. Just because you have the spirituality of an earthworm doesn't mean it shouldn't be valued. Whatever happened to "my house, my rules." Do they not have that in Canada?

Sure they do. But no one is pathetic enough to deny their own children for such silly things. If your child was a criminal or something that may apply.

e/ I can only speak for Newfoundland and Labrador.

You'd be alright with them starving on the street?

Tossing your children out over church isn't dramatic? What kind of society do you live in, guy?

It's more than church. It's failing to listen to your parents. It's a failure to accept discipline. If my kids did that, I'd send them to a military academy.

It's how things were done back when America was religious.

...a Christian knows that it so so much more than church and morality . We should do everything possible to prepare their hearts to receive the gift of saving grace .

Discipline is one thing, forcing your kids to have the same beliefs in you is practically brain washing in my opinion. But I guess you probably grew up in a home where exactly what you're saying now happened to you so I can respect it, I guess. I think it kind of goes along with the parents that force their kid to play a sport that they hate. Maybe it's the philosopher in me, but as long as my children respect me I would be okay with them challenging my beliefs, because I am a true believer that forming your own opinions regardless of what you have pushed on to you makes you an overall better thinker and provides a better thought process rather than "well dad said this, so it's correct." That reminds of me the movie Waterboy. "My momma said alligators are so angry because they got all them teeth and no toothbrush."

It's difficult to brainwash someone once they reach a certain age. They should go to church out of respect for YOUR beliefs. If they don't want to believe, then I have failed as a spiritual guide.

You can't force someone to believe something. I'm sure one of my future kids will go through a non-Christian phase, and that will be dealt with, but my kids will work out their spiritual angst while attending church every Sunday.

I have and always will respect my parents beliefs, just as they have respected mine. There was no big shit show when I told them I didn't believe in god.
