Im new, i don't understand some stuff about this game :7

You see i don't understand what are the drawbacks of going back to town, like the whole thing in my mind is surviving in the catacombs and feels odd to wait and regen freely, like i'm missing something.
Some game mechanics are unclear, like is there any sort of real time stuff? Sometimes if i spam forward, it goes a whole tunnel without aggro, other times if i'm slow i get like a fight every step.
Fishing, glyphing and all that stuff, at first i was just spamming clicks (and one single click for snag), then i realized it looks smoother if i hold down the click, but can't really grasp how to play efficiently and like why some items are basically impossible to successfully craft with
