I actually find myself using this quite a bit, and think its a decent idea

Well, in my eyes, with or without this button, a person who wants to abuse it will in the end so it change nothing in this case.
Personally I used this code when I was active in D2, to edit my posts or update my need list. It's not that long to write it myself. And it could also be the same about the bold, or the italic, why to have a button when you can do it yourself.

It's not a big update, not very important, or maybe it's not used a lot.
However, you have my yes.

I don't see why it'd matter at all if this potential tool could be abused or not, some like to bold everything they post not that anyone gives it much thought. This would simply make the bbcode more of a convenience to use.
And the primary use to strike anything out would be in a trade topic or general use list.

So, sure.
