Majority of the people also like to compare those classes to something like the warrior, instead of actually complaining about the warrior being too good.
I actually find ranger to be one of the most faceroll classes in sPvP (shitty PvP), especially if you play something stupid easy like a condi or spirit build.

i mainly use combos of axe, sword, dagger and torch on my pvp ranger, sometimes short bow /longbow but it's usually the first weapons i mentioned
i find with my ranger i can do the following
pure damage (crit etc)
conditions
mix of cond/pure damage
survival (lots of dodge, vigor etc) whilst still dealing decent damage
party support (with spirits and such)
pet dmg / survival
there are so many options imo which is what ranger makes fun for me, i don't like a char you can steam roll everything with it's boring
