My intentions for this idea benefit mostly League of Legends and D2 players (though it's been a long while since I've checked any d2 subforums so i don't know how dead the game is). However I'm sure other SFs could benefit.
Recently in the League of Legends Subforum, we've had a few amateur-hosted tournaments. The hosts are looking to expand and I see a great opportunity here. Imagine a tournament bracket where the creator can plug in actual JSP members so that on the brackets, links to the participants profile are a click away. If, for example, there are teams on the brackets, the team name would be displayed, and upon clicking it, the individual members' would expand out. The creator could also insert times for each match and players may receive notifications for these times. The creator could also designate a winner, and have participants advance within these brackets.
Prize pools
As with stream donations, there could be a simple function that allows players to donate to the prize pool
*OR* participants could pay a required entry fee.
*this would likely require moderation, as the creator designates the winners* - there could be a moderation fee to compensate for their time spent.
Stream integration
The creator could designate a veried JSP member's stream so that the tournament could be tracked as it progresses.
This would likely require a huge amount of programming, and it'd likely be less popular and more time consuming than the most recent update of twitch integration. However, this is the present and future of gaming. There are websites out there dedicated toward this but our members desire the comfort and connection of this community.
As a post-script, the first time i streamed an extremely small JSP tournament on Twitch, I was getting upward of 50 viewers. This may not seem like a lot, but in the large scheme of things, that number could snowball massively with such a function.
***at this point in time i'm mainly looking for ideas and c/c. Feel free to post***
