Does it control like most MMO's? Is it alive and well? Does it get good updates. Looking for a game to take over my spare time for a while.

guild wars 2 from all appearances is like most other mmo's

guild wars 1 is considered a dieing game; you won't find many people to PvE with anymore and is all instanced and is not an open world MMO like most. PvE is almost exclusively speedclearing now.

Guild wars 1 hasn't received a major update in over 2 years

if you look for community, guild wars 1 probably isnt the best place for it. If you like to pvp then i recommend trying it out; if you like PvE but prefer npc helpers to players, guild wars 1 is your place unless your doing elite areas.

Ever since the 7 hero update PvE has practically been solo anyway, aside from speed clears.

if you're talking about gw1, there is stlil an active community who plays, but it's nothing like it was several years ago of course. if you're new to this game you will get an amount of play time that's completely worth the price. weekend events are where you'll find a lot of players.

same with gw2. for $60 you'll get your moneys worth, just don't expect something you'll be excited with for a long time.

guild wars 2 i put a long long time into, would i go back and do it again? probably but i got easily 700 play time hours out of it in under a year, havent played since last december and have yet to truly want to

not that i can even play internet games as of now but you should have a good couple months of fun which is 100% worth the money invested
