Eh... Megaserver blows at a certain degree.
Other than that... still a good game.
I find there's a ton of end game content, just people don't choose to do it. Though it is all the same shit over and over for the most part. Just a damn farm.

I play wvw mostly anymore, I'm starting to forget anything else exists... Rank: Gold Scout ^_^

What end game content is there?

For players like myself, I now waste my time soloing dungeons because that's the only thing left for me to do in this horribly boring game at this point.

The only thing that kept majority of the people coming back were the time restricted achievements from living story...and now that it's been unavailable for the longest time, there's really no incentive.

Their feature patch was complete and utter shit. It was overhyped out the ass. I expected new skill build diversities...I saw NOTHING new. All they managed to do was include things that should have been there from the start: account wide dyes, inactivity timers on guild members...yet they still failed to put in a timer to show how long it's been since someone has repped. For a game that prided itself on GUILD wars, it's a disgrace.

WvW aka ZvZ is nothing but a zergfest. There's nothing fun about zerging, unless you're a terrible player and it's the only way you can achieve anything.

They did shit for fixing bugs too. Guild missions STILL bug without giving you credit, and the same open world events still bug at the same point (reported numerous of these...numerous times). They have literally done NOTHING to address simple bug fixes. They're too busy busting their asses attempting to push for E-Sports...STILL. It's amazing how ignorant they are to the fact that their game is just plain BORING, and their PvP is shit, along with their balance being shit.

The current ANet team is a disgrace compared to what the people who left the team achieved. Take the time to go look into how their company really functions...it answers a lot of questions as to why GW2 is doing so poorly compared to its older sibling.

How do megaservers blow?

Because now in world events, you get even more under-leveled dead weight to pull

* Living story needs to return and they need to work a bit harder on it's content
Scarlet was the only thing pulling the "RPG" side of GW2 and what did they do? Kill her off
Without a well written villain that has background and presence, you can't feel immersed in the story and that is exactly what makes GW2 feel shallow, the lack of f**ks given to the writing of the game's story
It's a shame really, they were given the full mythos and lore of GW1 and even the books written about Destiny's Edge before GW2 was released
The game world of "Guild Wars" should be as damn well developed as Middle Earth at this point and there is no excuse for the weak story provided by this design team

* The feature pack and it's new GM traits were laughable ~ There isn't a need to discuss why

* WvW is alright but every aspect of it's game dynamic, is too demanding
I often just don't have the time to sit down and get involved, nor would I want to, considering all of the shit attached to properly playing in ZvZ on teir 1 servers
TS, WvW guilds, grind time, grind time, grind time, to keep that server rating = just stressful gameplay to me

seeing alot of complaints about time/grind/farm etc that's what most games like this consist of, don't like it? Go play COD or something.

i wish they bought heros back you could take with you like gw1 so you don't have to take a shitty team sometimse ^_^

That's an issue with world events, not with megaservers.

On my Mesmer in Straits when they start an event, I change to my warrior to do the event for the new trait. Get put in a different mega server.

That's how they suck.

And I would value the benefits over these few occasions where you would switch characters for an event and you do occasionaly get in the wrong server.
But again, there's plenty of mechanisms that prevent this in most occasions... so it should be a rare occurance in a rare situation.

Not trying to praise anet, just that I've wanted this feature since 2010.

It's not a rare occurrence at all
I often am getting split from my party members when joining areas now

The annoying problems with megaservers (there are more than we've pointed out) outweigh the positive that it's brought
Others to mention as example:

* Certain hearts don't respawn mobs or activities quickly enough to support even 3 or more players getting credit towards the completion at a reasonable pace
So now with megaservers, when 6+ guys show up to certain hearts, it turns in to a battle to steal credible kills & spawned activities before they are already taken and you're standing and waiting again for more respawns
That isn't fun, that's just bad programming ~ If they want to support 200+ people on maps at any given time, they need to re-program how some of these hearts/events run

* Megaservers are random DCing people and absolutely nothing has been done yet, to fix w/e problem it is
People are getting frequently DCed with only the message of "game client was lost"
And it's happening everywhere, WvW, SPvP and even in random maps with still low player populations like Timberline Falls

And this shit

That's not the point guy, we all played Diablo 2, we all know what grinding is about
The point is that GW2 was 100% commercialized as an anti-grind game and many people purchased it because they wanted to play an mmorpg, that didn't require this type of grinding
More than likely due to their age/positions in life and their inability to put forth that kind of time anymore "even if they wanted to"

Getting split up when joining a different area means the one they are on filled up, or is hitting limits close to it.
Get them to join you... problem solved. I've not run into any issues not joining someones party, except when it comes to world events. And again, I'm in strong discontent when it comes to the state of world events right now regardless of megaservers.

Hearts is an issue all by itself, they have been since launch. Same with certain events having wonky scaling. That's not a megasever issue.

The random DC's have more to do with more people on a specific server rather than the programming behind a megaserver. These issues are getting less and less, but haven't been timely fixed.
IIRC it has to do with the wonky distribution of packets in a server when people connect to it. It doesn't have to have a lot of people in it to cause these issues.
Often you'll see the same issues with a new map until it stabilises. So my guess it's some weird server issues.

To me it just seems like you guys hate on certain aspects that you will be more exposed to due to megaservers, with megaservers themselves not being the issue.
And I can totally agree with you on them, but again... it's not the megaservers thats at fault.

As far as the manifesto, that's long gone. Was obvious from the first beta. Commercialised casual game.

I like paying multiple waypoint costs, and loading multiple times because of megaserver...just to get to where I want to go.

Definitely worth it over paying for my repair costs...yep...............................................................................................
