The new series is a remake of the movie with additional scenes that were in the manga, but not in the movie. Too early to tell though.

I think it might be better to watch the anime first, but if you have no patience, the movie is okay. It didn't miss many important scenes.

why do the call it break blade
even in the fucking anime name it's Broken Blade
so far not much happened, dunno if I dig the mecha combat so far, I'll give it an episode or two more
