Smith is old as balls, but he's a good stop gap. Gillies gets the backup maybe. It's kind of an overpay, but the market was shit from the sounds of it. I like Smith better than Fleury, I think I said that last week. He played very solid for the games against the Flames last year.

Played for a garbage Yotes team and still had a better save percentage than Elliot. This year he's the starter, next year he's maybe the backup if it goes well for Parsons/Gillies. I like 2 years of Smith at 4.25 better than Bishop for 7 years too.

I'm glad they grabbed Smith, I wanted Fleury but Smith is also a good option. I'm just pleased they actually went and got a number one so to speak, and 2 years remaining gives Parsons/Gillies/Rittich time to further develop and hopefully one of them becomes our starter for the future.

I just pray Smith isnt one of those goalies that has good numbers on a bad team but struggles when he isnt getting 40 shots a night...

I'm okay with it overall, glad they didnt take Kulak or Wotherspoon. Was praying for them to take Troy "PP Killer" Brouwer but it's not the end of the world they didnt. Lets pray he has a better season.

E: Why did they keep saying he was a Vegas native? Was weird they kept mentioning it then the big graphic said "Birthplace: Edmonton, AB".
