Yes, you are right, Russia must intervene to stop the Eurotrash agent provocateurs from subverting Russia's interests in their version of Canada. Sure, we have the EU well contained with all of our bases and we are in the process of surrounding Russia and China as well, which is pretty much been done but the EU and Russisa need to balanced and conflicted, let them fight and we'll jump in when we need to take the cake.
I support Russia because the EU is much worse at this time, if the US gets involved then I will have to stand by their decision but I honestly do not want to see the EU expand anymore. Germany is already too powerful, no telling what we will have to do if they start making more summer camps, maybe our Indian populous can be on the front lines, since they have more experience with the camp lifestyle.
Might is right, Russia is now a regional power instead of a world power. As far as these things go, though, we didn't invade New Zealand when they stopped admitting our ships, we just cut them loose. Russia doesn't have any moral claim to owning 44 million Ukrainians.
This is about regime security for the Russian elites, they need to concentrate the flow of gas in order to stave off economic decline, which in turn would lead to a populist overthrow of the present regime. China is picking off trade partners in Central Asia and Europe / NATO is drawing in the rest of Europe.
Russia shouldn't be allowed to augment their power by seizing Ukraine and forming a ~200 million+ "customs union", it will just take longer to incorporate that sort of Russia into the existing world order.
The EU is fine for now, however much I dislike it. The existential threat is China, which will outspend the United States on defense within the next 20 years.
