It is kind of silly to imagine someone writing from the perspective of benevolent aliens and expecting people to believe their hoax, but a person's opinions are not what constitute mental illness. The mentally ill are people who are mentally maladjusted.

You'd be surprised what many people believe. Something like 85% of the world is religious.
The feasibility of whacky alien contact religion isn't much more ridiculous than some of the other ones.

Religion has been the world-wide past-time since prehistory. I'm glad that some people are choosing to turn their back on it, and I also appreciate when those people have the humility to accept that they might be wrong.

I believe some pretty wacky stuff which you probably don't want to hear about. But the point of my earlier comment is just that he is writing from the perspective of the aliens even though we know the material is not distributed by aliens.
