He was just taking another opportunity to bash Christians, Republicans and somehow Ron Paul supporters and running with it.

Personally i think they have already wasted too much time and money considering a trivial state fossil, but I agree throwing in religious context was inappropriate.

on the plus side it seems these parents have inspired their 8 year old daughter to get more involved with the government.
