Just got done reading the 3rd and last book in the series and was extremely let down by it. I mean don't me wrong I liked all of the book except for the last 100 pages because of what happens to Tris and Tobias.
This series had me so wound up that I read all 3 books in less than 2 weeks and after diving into it headfirst, it in the end felt to me that Veronica Roth screwed it up.
I went and saw the movie in theatres and it was a good movie. I liked the 1st 2 books but the last one had me tore up. ^_^

I was just wondering if anyone else has read the series?

I loved the movie, thinking about reading the books.

It had a lot of relevant themes comparable to politics, ethics vs. science, and psychology in the modern world.

However, it seemed kind of anarchist in nature. Almost as if the author thought that neither the Adjudication nor the erudite should have control.

I found it quite refreshing, personally. Don't get me wrong, I don't always want protagonists to die, but I enjoy when a book is more realistic about the fact that not every story has a nice, neat, happy ending. The brightest heroes shine like the sun, but they burn all the faster for their light.

the ending was actually the only part i liked about book 3. the whole prejudice/discrimination theme gets old fast. i hated the shift to tobias's view, but that's mostly because the audio book used a dude to narrate it instead of the girl.

book 1 spoilers:

in the first book, i think the author goofed up. when jeanine locked tris up to test simulations and tris claimed no simulation will fool her, and then peter helped her escape, i thought for sure it was a simulation that finally fooled her, and she'd find that out in the end of the book. then book 2 would be the real escape or the next part of jeanine's fight after developing the final version of the serum. i was so heart broken when that didnt happen.

That's a great idea, maybe you should write a fan fiction on that line! I disliked all the 1-2 page chapters at the end from Tobias. Wicked annoying.

I just finished these books and I thought they were freaking great! Since I got my tablet and use it to read books I only buy books in hard cover as I build my "library". These books are definitely getting added!
