I was a huge gw 1 fan and was going to buy gw 2 at release but i heard it was so much unlike GW1 that it turned me off.
Now, I'm saying fuck it! Nothing is coming out thats interesting me and i think i should just pick it up.
Is it to late? Or jump in have fun!?

Were any of the bonuses from the hall of monuments "worth it"

The game is fine... Unless you where into PvP in GW1, then it's a letdown.
PvE is decent.
WvW is kinda fun.
PvP... It's trash atm.

Bonuses from HoM are kinda meh, they just give you skins.

I usually play for few months then let it down, then pick it up again. To me the game is a little bit repetitive, but still good thanks to the regular updates :)

Always fun when you make a new character, and each time you do, you can invest at least 50+ hours getting it to 80, that is unless you plan on speed leveling (aka dungeons/crafting).

Truthfully I'm disappointed by the selection of skills.. ( unless it opens up later int he game ... im only level 36/80 ) , my favorite part of GW1 was the hero system and sheer number of skills, thus being able to put together classes/whole NPC teams. I also liked the coop pvp missions, but idk how it'd be with this games mechanics. Regardless I'm a heavy PvE player and am pretty enthused by the game. As long as you pick up /gather/salvage everything like in GW1 you should have no problems with money, at least in the beginning. I'd recommend fully completing each map portion. I usually play through the storymode until I get to where the suggested lvl is far to high for me to survive. Then I go back and clear everything with an XP/GP boost and gain a bunch of gold/xp.

Msg me if you want a noob to play with, I have a necro and run through mobs pretty easy with AoE.

Hall of Monuments is just different skins, what I really didn't like about GW2 was the dynamic events. You would have 150 people running around collecting apples, how many fucking apples do they need?
