The Houston Rockets lost three games in a row for the first time this season as their overall record drops to 44-22 during the 2013-2014 campaign. It was a tough 113-104 loss at Miami earlier this afternoon. The Rockets had a 5-point lead (97-92) when Miami called a timeout with 6:13 left in the game. Following that timeout Ray Allen hit a wide open three-pointer from the corner which sparked a 21-7 Heat run to end the game.

The Rockets just went flat shooting the ball late in the game but it was an exciting road game against the two-time defending NBA champions. James Harden had a game high 30 points and Dwight Howard added 21 points and 14 rebounds but it wasn't enough to carry the Rockets to victory. With only sixteen games left this season the Rockets have to keep playing hard and start a winning streak again if they want to finish with the fourth seed in the Western Conference playoff race.

No time for the Rockets to dwell on these past three road losses. They finally return home to play the Utah Jazz tomorrow night: It's an 8:05 PM Eastern start time. A little home cooking might be just what the Rockets need in order to regain some of their lost swagger and confidence. The Rockets are 26-7 at home this season and have won eight straight games at the Toyota Center.

The three-game losing streak is over as the Rockets trounced the Jazz at home 124-86. Dwight Howard didn't play with a minor ankle injury but backup center Omer Asik filled in nicely with a double-double effort: 12 points and 11 rebounds. Terrence Jones produced a game high 30 points with 5 rebounds and 4 blocks. James Harden scored 15 points and he only played 26 minutes due to the blowout win.

Jeremy Lin had a fine game off the bench with 17 points and 9 assists. He also made a highlight-reel block during the fourth quarter. He fell down missing a three-pointer on one end of the court, but he still managed to get up and block Trey Burke from behind as he made up several feet of ground. It was just a good team win for the Rockets as everybody stepped up and played hard. They needed a win like this after losing three straight tough games on the road.

The Rockets' record improved to 45-22 on the season. Their next game is at 8:05 PM Eastern on Thursday Night against the Minnesota Timberwolves in Houston. With only 15 games left to play this season the Houston Rockets are trying to clinch home court advantage in the first round of the 2014 NBA Playoffs. They maintain a two-game lead over the Portland Trail Blazers which also includes owning the tiebreaker.

Another high-scoring win for the Houston Rockets as Dwight Howard missed his second game in a row as he rests his sore ankle. The Rockets had no trouble defeating the Minnesota Timberwolves by a score of 129-106. James Harden led the way with 28 points, 8 assists and 5 rebounds. Jeremy Lin provided a huge spark off the bench with 11 points and 10 assists. Most of his dimes came off some great passes to D-Mo, aka Donatas Motiejunas, who was an impressive 9-for-11 shooting with 20 points and 6 rebounds.

Seven players for the Rockets scored in double figures so it was a great team win all around and I'd just be here all day if I discussed every single one of their performances. Omer Asik filled in nicely starting at center for the second game in a row. He finished the game with 12 points, 5 rebounds and 4 blocks. He alternated several shots that don't show up on the stat sheet. Considering his lack of playing time this season he's literally playing himself back into shape after playing a career high 30 minutes per game last year.

The Houston Rockets are now 46-22 on the season. Their next game is at Cleveland on Saturday Night against the Cavaliers. 7:35 PM Eastern start time. Dwight Howard will probably be a game-time decision. He shouldn't be out much longer but with the playoffs just around the corner it's best for the Rockets to give him some much needed rest.

Despite being out-scored 32-17 in the fourth quarter the Rockets held on to beat the Cavaliers on the road 118-111. James Harden scored a game high 37 points with 11 assists to lead the way. Dwight Howard sat out and missed his third straight game but backup center Omer Asik nearly missed another double-double with 9 points, 9 rebounds and 2 blocks.

The Rockets improved to 47-22 on the season and they seem situated in that fourth seed in the Western Conference playoff race. With only thirteen games left to play this season it seems like home court advantage in the first round of the playoffs is within their grasp. They have a comfortable lead over Portland (5th seed) and Golden State (6th seed), the two teams directly behind them in the conference standings.

The Houston Rockets play the Charlotte Bobcats on the road tomorrow night. 7:05 PM Eastern start time.

Houston improved to a 48-22 record on the season with a 100-89 win at Charlotte. It was the Rockets' fourth win a row and James Harden continues his amazing play lately with a game high 31 points on 11-for-19 shooting. Dwight Howard returned for the first time in over a week and he casually added a double double with 10 points and 10 rebounds. He looked a little rusty during his 33 minutes of play but that was to be expected.

The Rockets return home to host the Philadelphia 76ers on Thursday Night. It's an 8:05 PM Eastern start time. With only twelve games left this season the Rockets are close to clinching home court advantage in the first round of the 2014 NBA playoffs. They can still overtake the Clippers for the third seed but the Rockets are in great position to finish with the fourth seed.

An NBA record tying twenty-six losses in a row for the Philadelphia 76ers as the Rockets had no trouble defeating them 120-98 for their fifth win in a row. Despite a game high 30 points from ex Rocket James Anderson the 76ers continued their mind-boggling and awful 2013-2014 season. James Harden notched his second triple double of the season: 26 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists. Dwight Howard added 17 points, 13 rebounds, 3 blocks and 2 steals.

Starting point guard Patrick Beverley left the game with a right knee sprain but is expected to play in the next game. Terrence Jones (20 points, 7 rebounds, 4 steals) and Chandler Parsons (16 points, 7 assists, 5 rebounds) both had good all-around games. Jeremy Lin scored 13 points with 7 assists off the bench.

The 49-22 Rockets host the 51-22 Los Angeles Clippers on Saturday Night: 8:05 PM Eastern start time on NBA TV. The winner of this game will have the inside track for the third seed in the Western Conference playoff race. With only eleven games left before the playoffs start for the Houston Rockets they will try to win every one of them left.

Without Dwight Howard and Patrick Beverley the Rockets lost 118-107 to the Clippers this past Saturday Night. It was a tough loss to swallow because the Rockets blew a 14-point lead and were beaten in large part by Chris Paul's 30 points and 12 assists. Houstonian and a former Texas A&M Aggies product, DeAndre Jordan, came back home and also had a big game with 20 points and 12 rebounds. Most notably his four highlight-reel dunks stole the show.

The Houston Rockets dropped to a 49-23 record. They'll try to win their 50th game of the season against the Nets at Brooklyn tonight. It's an 8:05 PM Eastern start time and it will air nationally on TNT. The good news is both Dwight Howard and Patrick Beverley should return in time for the playoffs. With only nine games left after tonight the Rockets are in great shape to clinch the fourth seed in the Western Conference playoff race.

The Houston Astros also begin their 2014 Major League Baseball season tonight at Minute Maid Park against the New York Yankees. It's a 7:10 PM Eastern start time: Scott Feldman versus CC Sabathia is the starting pitching matchup. The Houston Astros ended their miserable 2013 season with a franchise worst 51-111 record and 15 losses in a row. All of that carries over into tonight's season opener. Needless to say let's beat the Yankees and pick up a much needed win 'Stros!

The Rockets lost 105-96 at Brooklyn. Terrence Jones didn't play and they were already without Dwight Howard and Patrick Beverley. Without three starting players they are limping into the playoffs it seems like. Omer Asik had a fine game with 12 points, 23 rebounds and 2 blocks but it doesn't mean a whole lot in a losing effort. The Rockets will try to end their two-game losing streak at Toronto tonight. There are only eight regular-season games left after tonight.

The Houston Astros started off their 2014 season with a 6-2 win over the Yankees. Scott Feldman was sensational in his Astros debut. He tossed a two-hit shutout over 6.2 innings pitched and proved to be too tough for the New York Yankees hitters to figure out. Jesus Guzman hit a two-run homer, L.J. Hoes added a solo shot and Jose Altuve picked up a couple of RBI singles in the win.

The injury-depleted Houston Rockets dropped their third game in a row with a 107-103 loss at Toronto. Despite a team leading 26 points from James Harden and 15 rebounds from Omer Asik the Rockets sorely missed Dwight Howard and Patrick Beverley's toughness on both ends of the court. Both players are expected to return before the playoffs start in a few weeks which is good news. Also starting power forward Terrence Jones tried to play through the flu but left the game early after only playing nine minutes. There are only eight regular-season games left to play. The next game is on Friday Night when the Rockets host the Oklahoma City Thunder at 9:35 PM Eastern on ESPN.

The Houston Astros improved to 2-0 on the 2014 season with a 3-1 victory over the New York Yankees. Starting pitcher Jarred Cosart pitched a four-hit shutout over five innings with three strikeouts to earn the win. Dexter Fowler, who hit two doubles last night, continued his early season success by hitting a leadoff home run and triple while scoring two runs. Jerome Williams, Kevin Chapman, Matt Albers and Josh Fields combined to pitch four innings of solid relief (seven Ks, one run allowed) to seal the win. The Astros will try to sweep the opening series against the Yankees at 8:10 PM Eastern tonight: Brett Oberholtzer versus Ivan Nova is the pitching matchup.

The Rockets clinched a playoff spot with a 111-107 win over the Thunder as they improved to 50-25 on the season. James Harden scored a game high 39 points with 9 rebounds, 7 assists and 2 steals. Chandler Parsons added 23 points and 6 rebounds while Terrence Jones finished with 16 points, 11 rebounds and 2 blocks. Omer Asik once again filled in nicely for the injured Dwight Howard with 9 points and 12 rebounds. He's been averaging 13.6 rebounds over the past five games. With only seven games left this season the Rockets host the Denver Nuggets on Saturday Night at 7:05 PM Eastern.

The Houston Astros have lost two games in a row since their 2-0 start. An 11-1 loss to the Angels and a 4-2 loss to the Yankees. While 2-2 isn't a bad start to the season they have to do something with that back-end of their starting rotation. I don't have a lot of confidence in Dallas Keuchel (tonight's starter) and Lucas Harrell, who gave up 5 earned runs in 3 innings pitched during the loss last night.

I'd like to see 2013 first overall pick Mark Appel called up from the minor leagues in the near future. One of the bright spots is center fielder Dexter Fowler, who has a multi-hit game in all three of his starts this season. He didn't play last night due to a stomach bug but he should be back in the lineup tonight. The Astros bullpen should receive a huge boost from all-star reliever Jesse Crain, who is set to come off the 15-day DL in a few weeks.
