Kuhnhenns brewery just had their winter solstice party and limited bottle release. They had a bunch of new/special beers for this and they were amazing.
a few beers I tried there:
Raspberry Eisbock http://www.ratebeer.com/beer/kuhnhenn-raspberry-eisbock/25627/
forbidden IPA http://www.ratebeer.com/beer/kuhnhenn-forbidden-ipa/243220/
basically their 2012 WBC gold medal winning DRIPA, except brewed with black rice. Amazing beer
bourbon barrel 4D old ale http://www.ratebeer.com/beer/kuhnhenn-bourbon-barrel-fourth-dementia-4d-old-ale/67632/
another gold medal beer
big black banana http://www.ratebeer.com/beer/kuhnhenn-todds-big-black-banana/186351/
bourbon barrel barley wine http://www.ratebeer.com/beer/kuhnhenn-bourbon-barrel-barley-wine/22339/
none of these beers were a disappointment. Most of these were around 9-15% abv and the alcohol was masked pretty well.

I think they are about to start distributing some of their beers next spring, they just got some new building where they are brewing a lot more beer.
seriously, if you guys ever have the chance to try this brewery it is definitely worth it.
must try beers from them:
DRIPA: http://www.ratebeer.com/beer/kuhnhenn-dripa/73550/
Imperial Creme Brule Java Stout: http://www.ratebeer.com/beer/kuhnhenn-imperial-creme-brulee-java-stout/63093/
Simcoe Silly: http://www.ratebeer.com/beer/kuhnhenn-simcoe-silly-ale/32844/

Sounds like an awesome time. I want to try everything on that list. My brother-in-law is from Michigan so I'll have to force him to score some for me next time he is visiting family.
I am a sucker for anything brewed primarily with Simcoe hops so I definitely want to check out that last one too. Also think it's cool that they call the IPA brewed with black rice "forbidden." Forbidden rice is another name for black rice, which I love to eat, so I like that reference.

Did you have a personal favorite?

my personal favorite, it will be available in like a week, but I had it last year, it was called a few shillings too many http://www.ratebeer.com/beer/kuhnhenn-a-few-shillings-too-many/33192/
simcoe silly and dripa also both of my favs from them.
But to be honest, just about every beer I've tried there was amazing. penetration porter, kuhnhennfest, kuhnhenweizen, fluffer, Michigan mud, white devil, man everything is too good.
I'm not a huge mead drinker buy they make those too and I've tried a couple and those were awesome too.

You only make barley wines or do you try other styles as well? I had a barley wine that I really enjoyed over the holidays from Live Oak called Treehugger. Pretty good stuff to sip on.

I actually like the Costco Amber ale a lot. Stone pale ales are good but always more expensive than others. Anything from lost coast except that tangerine crap
