I agree it was chicken shit and unsportsmanlike, but I also think Tkachuk has gotten 2 of the softest and most questionable suspensions ever in the past 2 weeks.
The nhl is obviously trying to send a message about involvement with players on/off ice and I agree. Both are chicken shit plays and deserve to be punished, the one in Detroit more so than the Toronto one, but involvement with play on ice from bench has long been frowned on so it’s not the severity of the tap as much as where he was.
Just because they don’t punish other things( the hit into the boards just prior in the Toronto game) that should be doesn’t take away from enforcing legitimate infractions.
