Dreger: Eberle has probably played last game for Oilers

whoever gets eberle imo is lucky as f unless they mass overpay
going to rejuvenate his career and make him want to play again the oilers burned him out

Yea NJD might as well go all in. Sooner than later they'll lose Schneider and be back at square one.
Land eberle and fill a RW need for line 2.

I hear teddy Purcells career needs rejuvenating as well, he reminds me a lot of him.

Agree on NJ, I can't see tortarella allowing a player like him in col.

I think the team that get him will be very disappointed, he's a perimeter player who's got no ability to play in anything near to trafic. Even with more room on power plays he's been terrible enough that a 4rth line centre took his spot. If the opportunity to play on 97's wing didn't motivate him to find his game idk what could.

The thing about Eberle is that I think he's going to do well where ever they trade him and I dont think they'll get much value back because of his contract and how he performed this year. But that being said, I just dont think he's effective in Edmonton anymore, they need to move on because he isnt a bottom-6 forward (based on size/skill/contract) but he's playing that way and hasnt earned a spot higher up.

The reason the season has been such a disappointment is the hope was that playing on a relatively strong line(lucic Hopkins eberle) as the second line seeing minutes against the oppositions weaker lines we'd see more out of him. Instead we seen less.

He played the regular season as top 6, started as first line. It's not just a 1 year thing, it's been a tend over the last 3 or 4. the season long story on him is when is eberle going to break out of his scoring slump. And he gets a couple in a lobsided game , maybe and empty netter and then goes dry. Watching him for his career in Edmonton after his first 2 years he's never had a jump in his pace for more than 2 games in a row.
He's very easily defended against because all he can do is go to outside. He's got no ability to beat a defender 1v1 without easily being striped of puck. His board play is laughable the odd time he try to compete for a loose puck. The only goals he scores is when he finds himself 1v1 with the goalie , he's quite good in those situations but in this league you can't make a career out that.

I hope he does well wherever he goes , I've had a soft spot for him since his performance in the world juniors. But I really think he's just to soft for NHL level.

- Isles soon to announce new arena deal in Belmont and new contract for Tavares.

- Stars open to trading their 3rd overall pick.

- Hawks may be looking to trade Anisimov, but he has a full NMC.

- Bolts interested in re-signing Budaj to be their backup.

Shannon:
- Expect Oshie to re-sign in Washington soon

Friedman:
- Ducks interested in CGY's Sam Bennett and TOR's Connor Brown

- CBJ's Ryan Murray might be on the block

- ARI's Mike Smith might be on the block

- COL looking for a "hockey trade" for Tyson Barrie (sounds like they want to trade their D-men for forwards and their forward for D-men lol)

- RFA compensation for this summer:

One important thing to remember that not many people know about when it comes to offer sheets:

To get the AAV for offer sheet contracts, we divide the total amount of dollars by a max of 5 years, even if the contract is for a longer length.

For example, a player could accept a 7M AAV x 7Y sheet for 49M total but for offer sheet purposes, this becomes 49M / 5Y = 9.8M AAV

So that team would have to give up two 1sts + 2nd + 3rd, not the one 1st + 2nd + 3rd required for a 7M AAV contract.
