I play ~3 times a week, and I need to upgrade racquets (I'm using my dad's ~30 year old aluminum racquet that is falling apart and has never been re-gripped/re-strung).

I guess I would like a "tweener" (my take as intermediate?) racquet.

I love power hits, my favorite thing to do, but I guess with the really light beginner racquets I will kill the ball since I'm pretty strong with my shots.

Doesn't need to be a 2013 model, and my budget is probably maxed around 100 or so.

Thanks guys :)

As a tennis player who has been on the international tour for some time I would suggest either a Head or a Wilson racquet. Honestly, my favourite is the Wilson K-Factor.
There are lots of different models in the K-Factor series so go for the one that fits you the best. Hope this helps you!

where are you playing tennis? is it a tennis club maybe?
I used to buy my gear at my tennis club after tournaments. Clubs like that usually got some used-one-time racquets that are sold for 25% of their market price.
Basically some pro's are using raquets for training or warm ups before their games and then leaving em behind for tennis clubs to resell em/use em.
Dunno where you live but if i were you and had some guts (people are scared of asking nowadays) I would go to the biggest tennis club in my town/or the place you playing tennis in and ask em if they are reselling racquets.
You can save a lot of money and get the gear that you wouldnt normally even consider buying if youd just be brave enough to ask ^^

PS. About what chrille said... I would say YES to head as I think they are making great racquets for ambitious beginners/intermediate players. (never played with wilson so I wont comment on that)... and I would add a Babolat to that list. very underestimated manufactor making a great solid gear.

You mentioned a big lighter racquet destroying the ball, but you have to remember that a powerful racquet (especially with a large racquet head) will be very inaccurate compared with a smaller heavier racquet. Almost all of the pros have 100 sq in or smaller head sizes and their racquets are "headlight" which allows them to produce their own power.

I consider myself a tweener and play with a Head Microgrel similar to the one found here: http://www.tennis-warehouse.com/Head_MicroGEL_Radical_Midplus/descpageRCHEAD-HMGRAD.html

It offers some power, but allows gives good control and feels great! also, before you dump $100 bucks on a racquet, make sure to test it!

I still use mine. Got a Wilson Blx Tour 95 but I definitely prefer the frame of the radical.
