Tiger possibly to be DQ'd for signing an incorrect scorecard. My question is WHY is golf the only sport where the players are required to keep their own score and enforce their own penalties and are only penalized in the event that the score is incorrect?

By someone that was keeping the correct score all along?

Just seems like it's set up only for issues. NBA players do not call their own fouls. MLB players do not call strikes and balls. Just seems odd. Anyways, here's the story:

I only care what other golfers think and most seem to feel it was uncalled for because most golfers would be penalized under the letter of the law.

I tend to agree, but he was warned 3 times. If it were anyone else I'm sure feelings would be different, however, we have that "but he's a kid" feeling attached to it. The rules official that called it has 30 years experience and is probably the most respected of them all.

He will get a two-stroke penalty.

He SHOULD have been dealt a disqualification, the committee applied the rule incorrectly in giving Tiger a 2-stroke penalty. Fucking stupid

From what I understand, that rule was changed recently. 2 years ago this would have been the case but not anymore.

It was explained in good detail today, the key factor is that the committee ruled no penalty prior to tiger signing his scorecard
