illinois deer pop feels especially high this year. low harvest last season.
hows your parts looking?
Well I own a large tract of land (460 acres) and we manage our herd the best we can there is also a game reserve surrounding my land that is 14,000 acres. I lease out 40 acres each to 5 guys every year to hunt, and they plant food plots etc, and I lease 100 acres to a farmer who rotates corn and winter wheat,so we have decent feed. We selectively hunt every year only taking mature 4-5 year old bucks, so every year is good here, we had the chronic wasting disease a few years back, but we had the genetics in place for the herd to carry on and only the strongest ones survived, so it actually helped here some because we had so many deer.
