Hip Hop generally consists of two elements: An instrumental track, and a vocal track. Typically, the vocal track is the primary focus of hip hop, adding the majority of value and complexity to the song, usually over a more or less repetitive beat. Instrumental hip hop is nothing more than hip hop without an MC.

That is what will complicate this thread. We're removing the vocal aspect of hip hop and focusing primarily on the instrumentals. Repetition is to be expected, and what individual people find boring will vary. There is plenty of hip hop, whether I consider the vocalist to be talented or not, that contains (imo) very dull, unimpressive, unimaginative, lazy instrumentals. Then there's hip hop that I'd pay to have the vocals and instrumentals separated.

There are no guidelines on how you post in this thread. I simply recommend that you choose tracks that you consider to be unique; instrumentals with depth, like someone put time into fabricating the layers of their music. It doesn't have to be light or heavy, smooth or jagged.

This is the instrumental hip hop thread.

I expect to see plenty of Nujabes (r.i.p.) and Fat Jon in here soon enough. It's bound to happen. I'll probably post a few of my favorites from each as well.
Hopefully there's some more gems out there I'll discover thanks to you folks.

This is one of my recent favorites from the lesser-known Kuroisoul.

Ah, wow. You're still here.
Wax Tailor kicks ass. An excellent choice for sure. I've heard this somewhere before. In fact, I think it could have been one of your posts some time ago.
I want way more of this.
