So I've been shaving the intake manifold on my car for the passed couple days.

Figured I'd show the process so far.

Nothing special, just removing the useless bungs and plugging the no longer used holes on the manifold. I am using a SDS standalone ECU and won't be needing anything on the intake except for my brake booster vacuum line, the line running to my mechanical boost gauge, and of course the fuel pressure regulator.

In addition to shaving the intake, I also bored the mouth to 60mm to accept a 240sx throttle body. Which again eliminates more junk.

I'm also expecting a custom fuel rail to eliminate the overly complicated stock rail, which will clean my intake even more so.

Here's what I started with...

Then...

Then...

pictures continued in second post.

Sprayed with high temp primer.

Tomorrow I sand, and repaint, finally!

Will update.

How so? As I wasn't stripping anything. Haha.

Process consists of...

1. ) Cutting/Grinding the old aluminum bungs off.

2.) Tapping the respective hole to either 1/4 NPT or 1/16 NPT.

3.) Then screw the matching plug into the hole.

4.) Cut the top of the plug off, and smooth it out with high temp epoxy.

But yeah, if I were taking paint off of a hard to reach area. Aircraft stripper would definitely be within arms distance away. But not for this project.

Going to sand (320 wet) and paint the manifold in like an hour. Pictures to follow.
