Thanks guys.  I have store credit at Frys and am thinking about getting this set of speakers to couple with the Essence.  It's on sale for 105$

www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16836183042

Anyone know a few things about speaker specs and if it's worth the price range?

Thats a hell of a price.

They usualy go for 180+

Also; if you feel like messing with your audio you can get swappable op amps for the stx for anywhere from 3-10$ each
:3

Aftermarket amps that are essentially an upgrade? I know absolutley nothing about audio cards, how many op amps am I looking at and what exactly would I gain from them?

Those are solid speakers though? They're listed @ 130 on newegg which is normally about the same price at Frys.

BTW the 105$ is for the speakers. The Essence is still 180$ lol

Eh not really

They say the difference between the two cards is so minimal that almost no one will actually hear it.

But if you can swing reg pci, I'd go for the st to be safe.

I own the stx

I'm saying the price of a used ST = the price of a new STX... <_< I know what "they" say about this card.

I dont know anything about the speakers tbh

And the op amps just change the characteristics of the sound card.

Give it more bass or trebble/ clarity / positioning / etc based on which op amp you buy.

Would the type of amps I decide to get ultimately depend on the kind of speakers I get, or are there certain amps popular with the STX?
