im betting there is a nmc in the contract. if nashville does match. Weber requests trade to Vancouver next year, and is a flyer for life regardless of what happens

Don't match, start building a new future with the draft picks.

This makes no sense. Why would Weber sign this offer sheet if he wanted to get out of Nashville? This will easily be matched...

The only reasoning I see behind this is that Nashville was only offering him, say a 90M contract, and he wanted 100+, so this was his way of squeezing out that extra dough. No way Nashville was gonna let him go for 10-20M over 15 years.

But then there are reports that they were trying to trade him... makes no sense. I guess if they trade him after next season, it could work. Seems like a big win for the Preds right now.

lol wut... Canucks have tons once Luongo is traded for a pick + prospect (a 3rd/4th liner with a low cap hit maximum when it comes to a roster player). Tallon has all the leverage right now... he probably isn't giving up much.

EDIT: Not that acquiring Weber is a good way to go for the Canucks. Whether it's by trade or offer sheet, if he takes up our excess cap space, our offense is going to stink like shit.
