11 was fantastic, but it is far, far too dated; the UI is clunky and the pace of the game is very slow
14 was an absolute disaster, but i haven't looked at it lately

I was playing 11 as recently as ~8 months ago, too

Final Fantasy XI was the greatest MMO ever made, imo

Although it came out in 2002, and is nearing the end of it's lifespan. Alot has changed, and the game no longer has the challenge it used to have. (Level cap raises/etc)

Greatest memories in my gaming history lie with the good times and friends made in that game.

oh nostalgia

The way the game is now, you can get by with just 2 people. You can make decent progress just doing fields of valor and grounds of valor with 2 people. You just need to play 2 jobs that compliment each other, one that can heal, the other that can deal damage or take a hit or both. And when you get high enough level, you can do pretty much all of chains of promathia, rise of the zilart, and a lot of treasures of aht urghan and wings of the goddess with just 2 people.

QFT.

The game, back in it's prime required your entire linkshell (guild) to come together and work as a group. There was so much challenge, and strong sense of community in the game back then. Between Dynamis runs every 3 days, to scheduled events. Camping HNM like Fafnir and King behemoth, etc etc. There was something to do every day of the week all day long if you have a good group of friends to play with.

I miss the game quite a bit!

This was my old character (http://www.ffxiah.com/player/Ramuh/Vinto) relic RNG back when it was hard to have a relic lol

I was a taru blm rdm and drk
Ffxi greatest mmo ever

Battle/party/job/teamwork mechanics are unmatched by any game

Also incredible how much incremental upgrades can make in your performance. Just a plus one by itself is all the difference

Yoichinoyumi and Kikoku (obtained both in 2007)

FFXI just put you in the zone, and you were truly in the game. No other MMO captures that.

ohhhh, I remember those days.... How I'm longing for a game to come out and bring back days of that kind of gameplay. There's so many things to enjoy in FFxi you'd have to go thru it to understand. I'll never forget when I got Fenrir as one of the first english speakers on the server. Or my first time running thru Lufaise Meadows or one of the glacier zones and running into a million people trying to kill a HUGE blue dragon. Or or or or... I can go on and on.

*edit* tarutaru whm/smn and elvaan brd
