This thread is about to expire, so I'll ask a question

If the ump grants the batter timeout as the pitcher is pitching and the ball hits the batter, does it count as a hbp, or does the pitcher get off scot-free? Seems like a quick-thinking pitcher could take advantage of this, like Ventura, perhaps.

Wouldn't be a walk.. might get issued a warning or something, but stopping an in-motion delivery is worse than just throwing it 50-cent style.
