i put the disc in, but nothing happens
any advice/suggestion?

Did you make sure you have it to boot from dvd/disc?

tried obvious things like making sure it's well connected to the motherboard and it's getting power from the power supply?

everything is powered, just nothing on screen

reboot and enter the bios or w/e you call it and change the boot priority, set the dvd to boot from it first then the hard drive if there's no dvd .

You go into your bios and look for the boot priority and have it to DVD drive/Disc.

how do i enter the bios?

theres nothing on my screen

Did you plug your monitor in to your graphics card?
