I have a asrock 970 extreme3 board am3+ socket
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813157280
i currently have an AMD athlon II X4 640 processor. I use a xfx DD radeon hd 6850 gpu and 2 4gb (8total) of gskill sniper ram. Having problems with latency running shogun 2 during campaigns and also when i play gta san andreas. Figured i need a new processor sooner than later but now im really starting to get annoyed with its performance. I won't have the money for a new one till friday to buy a new one, but im looking to spend no more than 300$. Would much prefer to pay less than more money but i also want this processor to last me a good while before its sub-par.
If you need any more info about my set up lmk. Have a cooler master hyper 212 plus cpu cooler incase that matters.

The 955 is the best value for an AMD processor currently. With a Hyper 212+ You can overclock it min 3.6Ghz max 4.2Ghz
CPU $100

Although I would recommend getting an LGA 1155 motherboard and i3 2120 CPU instead
CPU $125

Biostar Z68 $65

The X1045T might be a stronger purchase given the recent discounts. It's a hexcore with the same OC range, and I think you can buy it from MC for $100 and from TigerDirect for $110 AR. Since you have a CM Hyper 212, you should get a decent OC.

Isnt 2120 just a 2100 with integrated graphics? Also with mobo upgrade wouldn't AsRock or gigbyte be better then a biostar?

If you're in Aurora, drive into the Westmont MicroCenter and get these two:
CPU:

MB:
http://www.microcenter.com/single_product_results.phtml?productid=0387555
$258.58 w/tax. That will smoke anything AMD has on the market right now (and will take the Hyper 212+ you have, as well, but make sure you have thermal paste to re-attach it...if not, get some at MC).

2100 and 2120 both have integrated HD 2000 graphics. 2120 is 3.3 GHz, whereas the 2100 is 3.1 GHz

<- now informed, second question though? I've heard around here biostar is not of decent quality.

You would be correct. Asus, AsRock, Gigabyte and MSI are much better/more reliable brands.

Hmm...try this:
CPU:
http://www.microcenter.com/single_product_results.phtml?product%5Fid=0354589
MB:
http://www.microcenter.com/single_product_results.phtml?product%5Fid=0387555
Edit: Forgot to mention, the two parts total up more, but will package out to the price I listed in the shopping cart. It is an in-store deal only, so you will have to go in and pick them up.
