Shooting a gun in a video game is completely different than the real thing.........

And you think hours of gameplay involving shooting people(or death in general...) doesn't desensitize people?

Nope. Why would it?

Why wouldn't it? Stupid question for a stupid answer.

It's not a stupid question. Video games and the real world are two completely separate entities for everyone who doesn't have trouble distinguishing reality from fiction. And those people would just as easily become desensitized watching cartoon or movie violence.

Edit: I will concede that you did give a stupid answer, however.

There have been studies and the was no proof that shooting or violent video games make children more violent or desensitized.

Studies are ongoing but there is zero evidence at this point.

That being said I don't let my son or daughter play excessively violent video games.

Halo is okay because it's a kiddie game and kind of silly....MW series is off limits. I let him play the Call of Duty that was the Big Red One in WW2 but then got MW1 and it was just way over the top.

I try to narrow him down to platforming and puzzle games, but I let him play some shooters that aren't too realistic or scary.

I bought him Naughty Bear thinking it would be cool.....no no.....it was like watching a hardcore slasher movie on LSD, had to go.

you dont become a deadly marksman with a real weapon by playing call of duty lol. how is moving 2 small sticks and hitting buttons to aim/fire anything like holding and sighting down a real weapon? and you can click the joystick button to hold your breath. anyone who would believe this is just stupid.

Because the article clearly states that he designed a special gun sight that worked with the game and attached it to his actual hunting rifle that he used to commit the killing spree.

I thought it said he just used a gun sight that was featured in CoD.

Maybe I read it wrong, it said he used a special gun sight used on the game(i took that as an addon used on the game) and attached it to the very rifle he used to kill people with. They make sensor devices that can attach to paintball guns/real guns that pan with the game and allow you to aim with a weapon instead of a controller. I've seen a few of them. So if it was that case, then using COD to hone your skills is not out of the ordinary. It's the same concept as the NES light gun for duck hunt, just more advanced.

yo guys

he bought a scope before mw2, then he used only that scope when he played to "get a feel of it". Those are his own words.
so he went to a gunrange for recoil/aim practice and used cod to "get used to" the scope he had bought
