Source?

Common knowledge... after reading the rest of the thread it was obvious you didn't know as much about hardware as you had led on to believe.

Except that they're still finalizing the engine. Which includes the threading.
They might add hyper threading support when they finish up the direct X 11 support.
Which I why I advised it to him when he wanted to run on max settings
Whether it will be implemented or not is irrelevant to the discussion as well. As the i7 is just so much more efficient.

You don't even know anything it seems. Not even what they used for the demo / beta's.
When a game is multi threaded, it doesnt magically mean it uses all cores to their maximum either nor that it is removing bottlenecks.

Is that why a single slotted video card can only run a top end game at 25-30fps on ultra resolution and high settings?

Right. I rest my case, you've proven yourself to be an even bigger idiot than I imagined.
Heck, in Metro 2033 you can hardly reach 60fps with the top end cards on medium settings

where the fuck did I say anything about single slot gfx cards?

Obviously if you just double the amount of power it'll run pretty much anything, because games aren't designed for that. Herp Derp.

It's already evident that you're an idiot. I'll cease further bashing because you're such an easy target.

yeah, this close to release and working on multi threading, RIGHT BRO.

Making a game have multi threading would alienate the majority of gamers... which is why nobody has done it. Stop fronting cause you did an internship once you pretend like you work down the hall from the dev team or something.

That's what they're using the beta's for. And they hinted to want an extended variety of options GFX wise, while including the support of lower end PC's.

eekzie, I generally like what you have to say, but you are outmatched here...

The game isn't using multithreading. Period. In fact, it's using the same engine as guildwars 1, just with enhanced graphics and physics, among other things, but that's it. No multithreading, no company in their right mind would intentionally rule out customers based on hardware haha.
i7 is also not needed. You only need to upgrade the cpu if it's a bottleneck to the gpu, which the i5 most definitely is NOT.
Also of note, the orignal engine was written with directx 9, which is what the majority of this game uses. It includes directx 10, but doesn't require it.
16 gigs of ram...eeeeh not needed. Even with 3 monitors it's enough. Shit, my gfx card (ATI 7850) can support 6 monitors itself.
SSD does nothing for gaming. At all.

To say he needs a $500 card to run ultra is also just silly. My card was $250, and it's overkill. I can run unigine heaven at 52fps stable oc'ed

I don't think so. You are maybe a comp engineer but you bullshit this.
Even if you OC it.. you will not reach 52 FPS ( equal to 7950 3GB)... maybe you run it at low.
