Cloth mousepads should be just fine (its really just preference). I'd reccomend doing some research to see if people have any issues with X mousepad and Y mouse before you buy them...

it is not really a pleasure to work on cloth as your mousepad.. i'd rather use a little book or just some paper.. even that works better
