The guy flat out knows how to identify and acquire talent and is one hell of a GM. Can't wait to see what he does in this coming draft.

Yeah without a doubt the guy has a sharp eye for talent.
Im also very happy Bortles is going to get the chance to prove all the haters wrong and to do it here in Jville

lets go
Bortles was essentially an advanced rookie this season.. and expectations were obliterated imo. Couldnt be happier to have him back as our qb this season
ya Caldwell and his minions are absolute gems at finding talent that no one else sees, really excited for who we draft in the mid rounds this year

Jaguars’ QB Blake Bortles’ salary-cap number for the 2018 season now will be $10 million, down from the $19 million it was scheduled to to be. His new contract lowered his cap number for coming season by a whopping $9 million.

"How to Save $12.6 Million in Two Days" - Starring Dave Caldwell, John Idzik and Tim Walsh. #Jaguars

Just another reason why this contract is so fucking good and why Caldwell and Co are great at what they do.

They can now use that money and put it towards Allen Robinson.

Could you imagine being the idiots who throw $30+mil per season and $85+m guaranteed at Cousins LMAO.

Bortles said he stressed to Tollner that he didn't want to fight over financial details at the expense of limiting what the Jaguars could do with other players.

"That was one of the big things when me and Ryan talked early on about this a week ago," Bortles said. "I said, 'We're getting paid millions of dollars to play football.' It's tough to pitter patter about how much money you're making. It's all incredible. It's all a dream come true. We're all extremely lucky to do it.
"Rather than fight over money here or money there, let's take what we can get because it's more than I ever thought I'd make and it allows us to go get some other guys done and continue to be a good football team all around."

That's what I'm talking about boys. Lets fucking go.

Football would be a lot more entertaining if more players had the same outlook. Good shit Bortles. Obviously it's easier to be this guy when you're not one of the best, but it's still refreshing and just awesome to see.

He could have been greedy and played for $19m this year. Then went into FA and got an even greater contract.

He's going to have a much better year this coming season and he didn't even have a bad year this past season.

Our best Offensive player will be coming back in ARob. Cole, Westbrook, Fournette and Cam Robinson will be in their 2nd year. We'll have upgraded at receiving TE and at least one of the OG spots. He'll also finally have the same OC for two years straight. He has had a new OC and had to learn a new Offense every season that hes been in the NFL.

Per @Jason_OTC, the #Jaguars have $29,048,410 in cap space with the new limit.

#Jaguars wide receiver Allen Robinson was informed he will not be given the franchise tag.

Robinson probably wont resign with us for a deal that he's worth because he knows the Bears, Jets, Colts and 49ers desperately need a WR and have a huge amount of cap space. They'll literally give him as much $$ as he wants.

Only reason I could see not franchise-tagging robinson is that the team see he lost something after the injury, other than that I dont understand why you let him walk

$16m for the tag and we only have $29m in cap space. We still have needs that should be addressed in FA (Guard, TE, maybe WR?), as well as trying to keep Aaron Colvin. $16m for one year, after coming off a down year in 2016 and then an ACL injury this past season is a lot when he could just leave in FA next year.

Then add onto the fact that we were a couple minutes and a tipped pass away from the Super Bowl without him. He literally only played 3 snaps in the first game before he got hurt.

He's good and I don't want to see him leave, but he isn't Antonio Brown or Julio Jones good.
