A quick question for you.
Which headphones are a better spec sound quality wise. the 280 HD Pro or the 448. I can't work out if the 280 is more expensive because of its robustness or the quality or, a bit of both. I always asumed higher number meant higher spec but i dont know the difference between pro models and regular models.
Any insight into this would be great.
Thanks again!
Havent heard the 448's myself but I really like the Sennheiser HD-280. They're an industry standard for a reason. If you're looking for reference-quality phones, gets these (you may be able to preview them at your local pro audio shop... GC might have them, too).
If you want some seriously punchy bass, look into DJ cans. They typically deliver more bass at lower volumes, in order to compete with club monitors and club noise.
Either style (reference grade of DJ cans) will provide some degree of sound canceling material. The 280's kill up to 32db, I believe. They're comfy as FUCK and they sound AMAZING, but they're also very dry and uncolored (as any good pair of reference grade headphones should be). There is plenty of good stuff out there, but in the $100 price range, I haven't found anything better than these.
