Using Windows Xp. Whenever I try to run d2 I get "Error 25: A critical error has occured while initializing Direct3D"

Are you receiving a message saying: (Any error that occurs when starting the game) (PC)


error 1: Diablo II is unable to proceed. Please run D2VidTst and try again.
error 21: A critical error has occurred while initializing windowed mode.
error 22: A critical error has occurred while initializing DirectDraw.
error 23: A critical error has occurred while initializing Glide.
error 24: A critical error has occurred while initializing OpenGL.
error 25: A critical error has occurred while initializing Direct3D.

Steps to solve these problems:

- Rerun the Diablo II Video test program.
- Download and install updated video and sound drivers and the DirectX program. Additional information located on the Driver update information page.
- If problems persist, run the Video Test program and set the video mode to Direct Draw.

open your diablo 2 folder and run D2VIDTEST again. choose Direct2D this time and apply changes.

If this doesn't work then right click the game.exe and go to settings. go to the compatibility tab and run in compatibility for windows XP SP3

how can I run the video test right when i try to open d2 it says the error

I think my problem is my computer has problems and I cannot update video drivers or direct X etc.

Which Video Card do you have?

go to your d2 folder there u find d2vidtst let this run

lmk your computer setup maybe i can help out

if all this doesnt work get yourself a program un installer from google and uninstall d2,
then reinstall (the uninstaller will completely deleted everything realated to d2) allowing for direct x to be installed
