It could be the spaces

Or maybe the program you used didnt count the hyphens or brackets.

Characters with spaces is 1833. That's still below the limit however.

Try clearing your cache, restart browser, and try again.

If it still doesn't allow you to post it, I guess you could make a quick site suggestion about it.

You know what, i think I remember reading that some characters count as two on jsp, even though it doesn't count it as two when it's telling you how many characters you have, it only counts them when you try to post. it's possible that [] brackets count as two

I have had this same problem when i once tried to post "austin" and 200 "!"

it said that the post is too long. And obv austin+!*200 isnt over the limit, so i think there is a bug.

Okay so I just did a test.

First I typed out 2048 characters that were only letters. This was posted without a problem.
Then I typed out 2048 characters that were symbols ( I used [ ). This also posted without a problem.
However, when I tried a third time, posting to only 1700 characters, it told me it was too much.

So it's obviously the bb coding that somehow counts as more characters than it actually is... I would still post a site suggestion to get it fixed, cus it is a big nuisance. Good luck.
