if it makes you feel any better, jay wilson hasn't beat inferno yet solo or with 4. He played over 1000+ hours as well.
Also, if softcore inferno gets easier later in the game, play hardcore inferno because they said it's not designed to be beat =)

Jay has not beaten Diablo inferno difficulty, as a solo player or in a 4-player multiplayer game
the +1000hrs was said in one of his interviews on youtube, can't find the vid though.

Update: Better translation reveals that Jay said “might not” be a clvl increase in expansion. Also, RoShin added translation clarification in comments:

We set the difficulty based on how our most skilled staff felt to be adequate. Then we MULTIPLY THIS BY 2 upon release”

(P.S. He further explains that “times by 2″ not only refers to mob damage output & HP, but also to the extent that players will need to “apply combat skills depth”.)
