This would be useful because in places such as the trading subforums where people make repost of threads when a lot of items on the previous list have been bought or sold you would be able to prevent old threads from getting bumped by someone who thinks that thread is still valid.

Also, when someone makes a small trade for a single item or similar, they don't always post "t4t" or something similar to notify that the trade has been completed resulting in people that keep posting what their offers are that keep bumping the post.

Or, if you just plainly dont want to make the trade anymore and dont want to bump the post you can just close it without bumping it.

The button could look like this (custom made button ftw)



After clicking the button there needs to be a confirmation page. One possibility is to get this message, similar to the log out screen (which is what I used to make this from xD)

A user with a Members++ user group tag is a user that acts as a helping hand for the d2jsp Moderation Team. These users have ability to edit their own posts for an extended period of time, can close their own topics, have larger PM boxes, and can close topics in the General Help section and certain sub-forums.

the limited number of threads in the top 50 or w/e it is would still be in effect.

and if you're still worried about it, there could be a flood control put in place

I'd bet most people wouldn't know how to use it properly. Not to mention there's some people who intentionally act like jackasses simply out of defiance.
