As crazy as it may sound, i actually want lolnucks to pick Wahlstrom over the 4 promising defensemen.
lolnucks may have shitty ass defense, but they also have shitty scoring depth. Was clear as soon as boeser went down, lolnux had problems scoring, and the fact that boeser still tied 1st in team pts says it all.
I feel like Wahlstrom will turn out to be a solid top 6, and having another nice scoring threat with shot and accuracy like boeser would be nice. The thought of him and boeser / EP
Seems like the reward of that is higher than a potential #2D-bust defense. Just how i wanted lolnux to pick tkachuk over gambling over juolevi/sergachev/chychrun etc. in the past draft

welp, there goes Juolevi's chances.. another set back for him. Injured his lower back during his off season training, the same injury Edler had back in 2011, and never made him the same.
Sucks he fked it up before he could get his NHL career started, hopefully he heals much better and doesn't affect him as much as it did to Edler.

Also i hope wahlstrom or hughes is available by 7th plzpzl why the fuk did boqvist rank have to drop by this time fuckin lolnucks luck.

benning putting out a clinic in how to ruin a franchise without attracting much attention. just overpay many grinders as humanely possible so no one ever gets to hear about your promising talent so you can't ever be disappointed. his inability to think beyond one season is stupefying, specially for someone who's pretty decent at scouting youth.

sven is not a top 6 forward. beagle is nothing more than a defensive specialist. roussel is just an agitator. the franchise is several big-time pieces away from even making the playoffs. we need to grow some fucking talent, not give retirement contracts to marginal players. this shit is worse than chiarelli or bergevin who at least don't mind making big moves and drawing negative attention (so they can get eventually fired). no, this motherfucker benning is an expert at destroying the foundation without getting caught before it finally gives away.

I agree, but to be fair benning is just trying to shelter the kids from being exposed defensively and be used much more on the O zone. Green at least used Horvat correctly and some kids more offensively, and had sutter mostly be the defensive forward to rely on. Other than that he had no one else really, and he had to work with Dowd as he was basically the best option after him. With granny out. Beagle is a huge upgrade from Dowd, the only problem I have is that he is signed way too fucking long and worry he won't be as effective in his 3rd/4th year. I hope I'm wrong though. Also another problem with these long term signings are that it takes up prospects space... Like it wouldn't hurt for gaudette to play in ahl for 1 to 2 years and not rush him, but burying him for 3 to 4 years? Wtf m8.

With all these fucked up signings tho, the 4yrs actually work out for the canucks opposed to other teams, cuz most heavy shitty contracts are up when benning needs the cap to sign boeser, ep, Demko etc. And try for fa help. It would only be a problem if the nucks had luxury of elite prospects like Jack Hughes/dahlin/laine/Matthews or other established stars that are willing to sign with the canucks through free agency. That's not the case for Lolnucks sadly so I guess it doesn't matter as much.

I think Baertchi is actually a good signing, he definitely produces like a top 6 player and has above average defensive side to him. Only problem is that he can't seem to play a full season and get 40+ pts. He's also not super amazing or bad, he's just like one of those serviceable player to compliment ur team. Someone useful but I wouldn't qq if he was traded lol.

I'm glad green develops his players and tries to use them best of their strengths. Canucks actually had pretty good record when green utilized his shutdown line with dorsett/sutter/granny. green probably asked for players to create a line like that again with roussel. Beagle to kinda share the role with Sutter, so Sutter doesn't have to be gassed throughout the full season and have back up. Essentially he got rid of players like gaunce, Dowd, motte and upgraded with beagle/Schaller. Green doesn't force boeser to be on the 4th line to start learning how to be a 2 way complete player, and praise players like vey/chaput/megna who is willing to
Play a more complete game since they don't have a luxury offensive gift side to them and stick em in the top 6 even if it's clearly not working.

problem is that the signings basically assume no one else will step up to the plate outside of the blue chippers. sure there's room for our current NHL-worthy forwards but the fields gets crowded very quickly when we're talking potential players like Cassels, Petterson, Lind and whatnot. very few nhl'ers started playing in the top 6 right away. a team full of immovable veterans makes it hard to make room for youth. you don't need a team full of grinders to teach youngsters the way of the chip and chase. at least if they were all 1-2 year deals that make them easy to trade at the deadline it'd be OK but no contender will want to deal with overpaid depth beyond their post-season runs so it really takes away the flexibility of making room for youth that develop faster than expected and getting the team into cap hell a lot faster.
