the 800k penalty per season now is from trading him away, but the cap penalty for retiring early is a whole another issue.

That's why lolnuck managment would want lu to retire end of this season, if he isn't planning on playing til 2021.
When and if canucks get competitive in few years from now, they're gonna get rekt by Lu's cap penalties, esp the 2021 year jajaja.
So either way, they're fucked for 6 years if he were to even retire end of this season.
NHL's a fuckin joke league for punishing the contract AFTER they approved it and was signed. This contract would never have happened if the NHL had better "rules" to follow and no loopholes to take advantage of and done their job to reject the contract in the first place when they were suppose to

Also it will be very tough to trade Erikkson away because he has NMC/NTC i believe, and he already had tough time adjusting to a new city w/ family. I doubt he would wanna waive it and go through it again.
