12. What strange sight does Nick see at the end of ch. 1?
13. What are the advantages/disadvantages of having Nick narrate the story of the great gatsby rather than having gatsby tell the story himself?

13 - the benefit of having nick narrate instead is because it allows for a better narration and understanding of whats going on. its not just from one side or the other.

You should just read it. It's such a shame schools are ruining a great book by assigning it to be read for homework.

3. list 5 important details that we learn about the narrator in ch. 1

He lives in West Egg, he lives next door to the famous Gatsby, He is from Minnesota, he's just come from WWI, he "reserves judgement" on people he has just met, and he has very strong morals and a code of ethics.

15. Describe the eyes of Dr. T.J. eckleburg. WHat mght they represent ( or symbolize)

Dr. T.J. Eckleburg's eyes seem to be omnipotent and extremely piercing. They see all actions and all intentions between interactions. Eckleburg is constantly brought up throughout the story as Nick observes the twinges in morality between the actions of other characters.
