Berizzo's excuse as to why he threw the ball (leading to his sending off):

"While we were winning in the first half, in the heat of the moment, I made a mistake and threw the ball to try to waste time. The ref warned me, and I knew I was wrong. I felt bad about it, so later in the second half, while we were losing, I decided to do it again as a form of compensation for my bad conduct when we were winning. I tried to explain this, but the ref didn't give me a chance and sent me off. I had a chat with Liverpool's staff after the game and they understood though." :rofl:
